A charitable trust catering to free ophthalmic consultation and treatment has been servicing the society since more than a century. As Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhiji laid the foundation stone of the structure in 1931, and since then it has been addressing a very noble cause towards eye treatment for the economic weaker sections. The P. R. Vakil Center for Optics, an unaided hospital, is being planned as the first phase of development, a state-of-the-art tertiary center, and center of excellence on research of ophthalmology. This business program allows a way of obtaining funds for the overall functioning of the hospital and its maintenance.
